About

Precision,
structure, and craft

I work at two intersections that are closer than they look. As an information specialist and metadata expert with over 20 years of experience, I make knowledge findable — designing the structures that allow institutions to understand, access, and trust their own information. As an interior designer, I make spaces livable — applying the same precision to the arrangement of a home that I bring to the arrangement of a catalogue.

My library career spans university, public, and specialist institutions in Portugal and Sweden. It began in 2007 at the Universidade de Lisboa cataloguing a multilingual theatre collection across 13 languages, and has grown to include systems migration, AI-assisted cataloguing research, streaming media metadata at BTJ Sverige, and a deepening focus on information security and AI governance — the defining challenges for information professionals today.

My design practice, Interiors by Lu, works with residential clients in Malmö and southern Sweden. Each project begins with research: understanding how the client actually lives, what materials age well, and what the space wants to be. The result is considered, lasting, and specific to the person — not to a trend. I am selectively taking on new projects; if you have a space in mind, I would love to hear about it.

Beyond the professional, I make things with my hands — bookbinding, clay, woodwork, and journaling keep me grounded and precise.
